While the exposure of the detail photograph is prior to 1909 (the Gibbs Building is not present) there are two traffic signal devices, each one hung from a post, sunk into the sidewalk, mid-way along each side of the park, controlling each Crockett Street intersection, which would seem to indicate automobile traffic.
