Subject: Photo crop of The Vance House (1848) at Houston and St. Mary’s. View is NNE from Houston Street showing the Vance House built by Vance as US Army Headquarters during period of 1846-1848. Reconditioned as a hotel after the war. There does not appear to be any street car tracks on Houston Street. The line was in place by summer of 1878.
